Congratulations Mr. Plyer!

Congratulations Mr. Plyler!

My name is Casey Plyler. It is my distinct honor to have been selected as the Mason Creek Middle School Teacher of the Year for 2019-2020. I earned my Masters in Music Performance from the University of Georgia in 2012 and my Bachelors in Music Education from North Greenville University in 2010. My wife Sarah is a private piano teacher. We have been teaching music to students in this area since 2012.

I have taught band at Mason Creek Middle School for seven years. In that time my students have succeeded in earning superior and excellent ratings at competitions and Large Group Performance Evaluation. The program we have built here is humbling and gives me great pride.

As a musician, I began my journey with my grandmother; she was pianist at our church in rural SC. She taught me to read music, to sing, play piano, and lead people in song. I began playing the trombone in band class with Mr. Carl Wylie at Buford Middle School. Since that moment, I have been involved in band.

I owe so much to the teachers in my life, from my grandmother, my band directors, professors who encouraged me and poured knowledge and positivity into me.  From a young age, I knew I wanted to make music with others. In addition to my band classes, I also work a few times a week with our special needs classes. It is my pleasure to teach young musicians and to provide them a safe and engaging band classroom
