Mason Creek's Teacher of the Year

Congratulations to Mason Creek's Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Suzanne Butler

Mrs. Suzanne Butler has been in education for 26 years.  She has spent her entire career working in special education.  All but 1 year has been working with students with moderate/severe intellectual disabilities.    She is highly qualified to teach in all academic subject areas for special education, and is certified in preschool handicaps and middle grades reading.


Mrs. Butler is a 1990 graduate of Douglas County High School.  She graduated in 1994 from the University of West Georgia with a bachelor’s degree in special education, and in 1996, she received a Master’s degree in Special Education, also from the University of West Georgia.  


Suzanne is the only daughter of Terry and Linda Odom.  She has been married to Mark for almost 21 years.  They have 3 children, Caitlyn, Anna, and Zack.  She also has 2 dogs, Jake and Pete.  They are members of LifeGate Church in Villa Rica.  


Mrs. Butler is honored to have been chosen as Teacher of the Year for Mason Creek Middle School for the 2020-2021 school  year.  She was also voted as Teacher of the Year at Chestnut Log Middle School in 2007-2008, Margaret Fertig Special Education Teacher of the Year in 2009-2010, and Teacher of the Year at Mason Creek Middle in 2013-2014.
